A step forward!

A new audio and video format has been defined to improve the quality of our stories. The idea comes from the treasure hunt games, often used in the first adventure videogames. We call them "sequential" audios. The user has to be captured from the first story to enter into the stories chain. Then the visitor has to follow the subsequential episodes, but not in a linear scheme. Forks are insertend in tho the flow, so that the visitor can decide which one to follow. And, more or less at any time, he/she can obtain details and go in depth into themes he/she is interested in. Lastly, we are tuning up the presence of images during the story, that will appear on the smartphone screen. Especially for some details that can't be seen clearly from the ground, or hidden elements which are difficult to discover at unaided eye.

From our point of view, Venice hosted a differential factor that enabled the western civilization to became what it is now. Over the centuries, Venice has remained an indipendet republic based on few families oligarchy, but open to the commerce, to new ideas and to the tolerance in respect of other feiths, religions and creeds. This millenary story allowed the Renaissance artists, thinkers, architects, matematicians and so on to find a place to operate almost freely, and in any case without the Imperial or Pope's control, called Inquisition. It was possible only in Venice. It was only possible thanks to Venice.

Starting from a first level of narration, where we tell some elementary stories about Venice, we let the visitors to go in depth into the history of Renaissance and towards the understanding of the western culture. At the time of the the first painters (The Bellini's "Bottega") there were in Venice several circles of thinkers and esoteric (as well as exoteric) organizations to which they took part. This belonging was exhibited through th presence of specific symbols in the most famous paintings we still can appreciate - even if no guide, no explanation is usually given for those symbols. Symbols were used as clues of something else, something that members of secret organization were easily able to detect and understand. A lost knowledge at the preset time. As an example, we focus the visitors attention on the Marietta's story, the Tintoretto's doughter. She followed her father in carrier and appears on the paintings called "Mary presented to the Temple". This theme is esoteric in itself.
Presentation of Mary from Tintoretto
Indeed, the Vatican does not recognize the Apocrypha Gospel as belonging to its Tradition, even if they are "true" in the sense that those manuscripts can be dated to the I or II century a.C. Using this theme is then a sign of a collateral knowledge to which the artists were referred to during the Renaissance. In this painting we see a sort of weird Egyptian Pyramid just behind the figure of Mary getting in the Temple stairs.

At the base of the stairs we see the Tintoretto's doughter Marietta (in the red rectangle) close to a lady, indicating her Mary as an example of devoted life.

The same theme can be found in a big Titian "telero" at the Academia Gellerie. A "telero" is a canvas that covers a wall instead of a fresco. Venice humidity discourage the use of frescoes and whar you can see in this masterpiece of Titian is his interpretation of the Presentation of Mary to the Temple.

Even in this painting we can finde, on the opposite side of Mary (instead of very close, as for Tintoretto) the same weird Egyptian Pyramid. It is clear that this emelent is used as a sylbol of a mysterious knowledge linked to the Egypt. More probably, the symbols stays for Hermes Trismegistos, the father of any esoteric knowlwdge, and even of the Alchemy.

During a visit in Venice, we have discovered a third representation odf the same subject by a minor painter in San Zaccaria, the church placed just behind The Pity Hospital. Even in this painting, as already noticed, tha same symbol appear on the same theme, to confirm that it was not a caprice of an artist, but a well established use of symbology at that time.

The story starts in four hospitals that host orphans, the so called "putte de' comun", or "doughters of the community". These kids were educated to several arts and jobs, but most of them were initiated to the music. This was the first example of Conservatory in the world. Many musicians and composers had a role in this educational system. Compositors like Vivaldi were teachers in these orphans schools. One of these hospital, and namely the one that hosted Vivaldi, was the Pity Hospital.

We will explore several stories of the little orphans following their career as musicians.
